Alessandro Conti
The eldest. He built the MyOliveTree project and runs it: the one in charge, from the adoptions and the subscription to the standard every estate is held to.
How it began
The trees are ancient. The way to reach them is new.
Follow the line down. The grove was here for close to four hundred years before the Contis put their name on the gate, and only a few years ago did they open it to the rest of us.
The first trees
Long before the Contis, long before Italy was Italy, someone planted olives on this hillside in the Val d'Orcia. A handful of those trees still stand, close to four hundred years old.
1643
The Conti family begins
After the old sharecropping system collapsed, Aldo Conti buys the neglected estate and presses the family's first harvest under their own name.
1962
The next generation comes home
Tommaso's three children, Alessandro, Giulia and Niccolò, come back from lives in bigger cities to work the estate with their father and carry its oil further than a valley.
2004
South to Puglia
The family takes on a second estate, Masseria San Michele in the Alta Murgia, and keeps its master keeper, Lorenzo Fanelli, who has worked that land for years.
2007
And on to Sicily
A third estate follows, Baglio Sant'Anna in the Val di Noto, under keeper Sebastiano Adorno: the southernmost and latest-blossoming oil of the three.
2009
Adopt Your Tree
MyOliveTree is born during covid, as Alessandro and Niccolò take on the project: adopt a tree, follow its season on the map, and receive its oil.
